I am a creative and thoughtful strategist who is comfortable in a broad array of environments ranging from early-stage start-ups to multi-national organizations. Throughout my career I have sought out new and exciting challenges where I can participate in the launch of new ventures and support teams in achieving challenging targets. I relish the opportunity to work with clever professionals, serving as a trusted advisor and sounding board by developing a deep understanding of client challenges and working collaboratively with them to develop and implement pragmatic solutions.

My professional experience has spanned several industries, geographies and cultures. Early in my career I worked in business development for BP in Canada, supporting the establishment of its oil sands business. I went on to help launch a new energy joint venture between BP, PetroChina and the Government of Iraq to rehabilitate the world’s third largest oil field: Rumaila. As Head of Planning and Performance Management, I established the systems and processes necessary to manage a US $3 billion integrated activity set. In my role as Chief of Staff to the General Manager I worked with senior executives and joint venture partners to agree a long term development plan and respond to a challenging operating environment by implementing an aggressive 18-month business turnaround strategy. During this time I began to serve as an advisor to several Canadian tech start-ups and identified new ventures as a promising area where I could deploy my skills and talents.

For the past two years I have worked as an independent consultant, developing strategic recommendations for clients across a range of sectors, including tech, media, wellness, and hospitality, as well as supporting entrepreneurs as a coach and advisor. In these scenarios, I brought rigor and discipline to project execution, helping teams prioritize activity and communicate with customers, employees and investors.

My experience working in multi-disciplinary teams has provided me with a solid appreciation of the need to engage stakeholders early in the process to achieve the collective buy-in necessary to embed sustainable change. As a facilitator I strive to remain flexible in my approach in order to break down barriers between groups and support constructive conversations among siloed departments and organizations.

In the community I have worked with several leading organizations in the public, charitable and non-profit sectors to effect change. Through my family foundation I deploy a venture capital approach to giving, working collaboratively with grant recipients to co-create and test pilot initiatives with the potential to catalyze major change in the sectors they serve.
