Hello, I’m George
I am a creative and thoughtful strategist who is comfortable in a broad array of environments ranging from early-stage start-ups to multi-national organizations. Throughout my career I have sought out new and exciting challenges where I can participate in the launch of new ventures and support teams in achieving challenging targets. I relish the opportunity to work with clever professionals, serving as a trusted advisor and sounding board by developing a deep understanding of client challenges and working collaboratively to implement pragmatic solutions.
In the community I have worked with several leading organizations in the public and charitable sectors. Through my private family foundation I deploy a venture capital approach to giving, working collaboratively with grant recipients to test pilot initiatives with the potential to catalyze major change in their sectors.
What I Do
For the past two years I have worked as an independent consultant, developing strategic recommendations for clients across a range of sectors, including tech, media, hospitality and wellness, as well as supporting entrepreneurs as a coach and advisor.
Strategy
Leveraging a background in strategy, finance and planning, I balance art and science by incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data in crafting actionable strategies. Throughout my career I have served as an integrator, working across cultures, disciplines and seniority levels to develop pragmatic solutions by engaging stakeholders early on to build the consensus necessary to embed sustainable change.
Design
With a focus on business and service design, I work collaboratively with clients to explore the root causes of the challenges they face so that we can build, test and iterate several potential solutions with the potential to achieve sustainable change. Throughout the process I remain mindful of the culture and context of the client’s environment, as a beautiful solution is meaningless unless it can be implemented.
Advisory
Anyone can play devil’s advocate and identify why something might not work. Instead, I choose to work closely with clients to uncover the obstacles they face in achieving their goals to develop a flexible plan to attain them while providing support, insights and accountability. My primary objective is to empower individuals by serving as their champion and helping them see what might be hidden in plain sight.
